Here at My Green Mattress, we consistently strive to better our mattresses when new information comes our way. This is why, as of December 2016, we partnered with a new U.S. based wool supplier.
When we learned that we could source our wool from a supplier in California that contains no polyester fibers, and is washed in an alcohol based detergent that is GOTS Organic compliant, we jumped at the chance to switch suppliers, bringing our once sourced wool from New Zealand to the good ole’ U.S.A.
We always strive to get all of our materials from U.S. companies, unless we find a better, safer quality elsewhere. Our New Zealand supplier was the safest we could find for many years, but now that we found this supplier, we have a safe option with the best certification for organic compliance that there is, sourced much more locally.
What’s more is that the washing process used by our California based supplier virtually eliminates any natural odors that may have been offensive or bothersome from the wool.
Why wool? Wool has been a material of choice for My Green Mattress since we started making mattresses. Wool acts as a natural flame barrier, therefore the mattresses pass flame testing required by law without the use of dangerous flame retardant chemicals. In addition, wool is naturally resistant to mold, mildew, and dust mites.
Being able to offer safe mattress options to families is our passion. We are glad that so many people can benefit from sleeping on non-toxic materials, making for a truly healthy night’s sleep.
