Six Simple Steps for the Overwhelmed Woman

Are you an overwhelmed mom or a burdened, working-from-home woman? Well, I want to share some helpful secrets with you. These are things I try to do each day that have truly made my life easier! If I can do these, you can, too!

Keys to Conquering YOUR day:

Get yourself dressed.

I lay my clothes out the night before. I read somewhere that you should dress for the day that you want to have. I love that! It takes me seconds to put them on in the morning, and makes me feel completely ready for my day.  If I put on shoes, I feel extra-good-to-go! Then it’s upstairs to wash my face, brush my teeth, and get freshened up for my day!

Make a to-do list every morning.

I do this while having my coffee and breakfast. It focuses my mind on my priorities, and gives me a general plan to stick to. I don’t always follow it perfectly, but it helps me to have direction and to think ahead. In my planner, I put a to-do list on one side, and a schedule on the other. I draw stars next to the things that I need to remember.

Do a load of laundry!

This is a HUGE key for success in my week. It’s so simple! After having to spend an afternoon at the laundromat, my lesson was learned! I now have a goal of doing a load a day, from start to finish. My kids never run out of underwear, and hubby always has plenty of socks and t-shirts. It is a wonderful habit, and though I still have to make myself do it each day, it is WAY better than having PILES of laundry overtake my home like “The Blob”.

Empty that sink!

My kids unload my dishwasher, so it is my job to load it up and hand wash the pots. Who enjoys dishes? NOT ME. But if I get behind on them, I don’t even want to go into the kitchen. But a few moments during my day (sometimes while dinner is cooking), saves me the dreadful pain of dish pileup.

BREATHE DEEPLY.

I am a work-from-home, homeschool mom…my days are VERY busy. I have found that having a little time to pray, read, or rest my eyes helps my mood and attitude tremendously. As moms, we often put ourselves last. But we must remember, a peaceful and joyful woman makes for a peaceful and joyful home. Find something you love to do, and do it! Whether it is a walk outside, crafting, yoga, talking with a friend…enjoy life and relax! It will help your entire day be richer, your heart to be more thankful, and the love inside of you to flow out!

Set an alarm.

I am not a get-up-early type of person. I have known those people…the ones that naturally pop out of bed at 5 am. Nope. Not me. But I found that I needed a schedule to help my day go more smoothly. Which meant getting out of bed. So, I started setting my alarm for 7 am each night. I have found that when I get up early, I get more done, and therefore, I feel more successful! Knowing my alarm is set also encourages me to get to bed at a decent hour. I aim for 8 hours of sleep, and I encourage you to do the same! Having good rest makes you feel like you can conquer the world! Naps are a great way to get some extra energy, as well.
Try a few of these, or maybe the whole list. If you can make yourself do it THIS WEEK, I think it will give you a brighter and more refreshed outlook on life!

Get up and choose to CONQUER YOUR DAY!
