To ensure your mattress qualifies for return and donation, it’s important to measure it accurately and confirm it falls within our standard 2-inch size variance and that you notify within 30 days of receiving your mattress.. Here’s how to measure your mattress step by step.
What You’ll Need:
- A tape measure
- A phone or camera to document your mattress
- A flat surface (no mattress topper or bedding)
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Remove all bedding and sheets
Start with a completely bare mattress—no fitted sheets, mattress protectors, or toppers. This ensures you’re measuring the mattress itself and getting the most accurate dimensions.
2. Document the condition of your mattress
Before measuring, take a clear photo of your mattress in good lighting to show that it’s in good condition. This is a required step in the return process to confirm eligibility for donation.
3. Measure the width across the center
Use a tape measure to measure the width of your mattress from side to side. Be sure to measure from edge to edge, across the center of the mattress. Record the number in inches.
4. Measure the length from the center
Next, measure the length from top to bottom, but do so by placing the tape at the midpoint of the top edge and pulling it straight to the midpoint of the bottom edge (not along the curve or edge).
For best results, use the center blue tape edge as your reference point, if applicable. Again, record the number in inches.
5. Check your measurements
Your mattress should fall within 2 inches of the standard dimensions for its size (e.g., Queen = 60″ x 80″, acceptable range = 58–62″ x 78–82″). If your measurements are outside this range and the mattress is in good condition, it meets the criteria for return.
