I am beyond thrilled to find a new mattress that doesn't smell horrible! We slept on it the same night we set it up. It is wrapped in plastic in order to keep it folded and rolled for shipping, but there were no smells from that by the time we went to bed.
It is not a plush pillow-top mattress and I am glad! It has fabulous firm support without being hard. It actually reminds me of the beds at the Hilton Garden Inns. They feel a bit "hard" to the touch, but give the best night's sleep. We did purchase a wool/cotton mattress pad from a Polish company (no chemicals, either) for a bit of natural cushioning. It has 100% wool on one side (this side is face up now since it is winter) and 100% cotton on the other side, which we will have face up in the summer. The natural temperature control is awesome. The first night was a bit rough just due to the change in mattresses and bedding. From the second night on, we have been sleeping very well!
We also love that these mattresses are made by a family-owned company. Several relatives and friends have asked about our new mattress and I have given them the website address. People are quite curious how a mattress can arrive in the mail and we can sleep on it that night. lol
We rotated our previous mattress quite regularly and it still developed some dips and ridges over time. It was the style that cannot be flipped, so we opted to buy the two-sided Echo Queen mattress and plan to flip and rotate it regularly.
I consider this mattress…
