Up until 11/2018 this mattress would have been perfect but then came the new addition to something that wasn’t broken: tufting.
This mattress now has tufting that is a piece of metal encased in a part-polyester cording on a piece of felt on top of the soft and lovely wool top layer. You are now laying on small pieces of poly-covered metal that dig in. on a king size there are 16 of these metal/poly/felt circles so it’s impossible to not lay directly on top one of those circles.
If it wasn’t for the awful tufting this would be a 5 star mattress, extremely comfortable, and the craftsmanship is obvious and impressive. But I can’t justify this price when I need to shift left/right to avoid feeling pieces of metal. Plus now instead of the organic wool and cotton that your body is laying on top of, you have metal, poly and felt added to that.
For anyone looking for the older version without metal and poly cording as part of the top layer, it’s an extra $150 to leave those things off. Yes, you read that right $150 MORE to get the mattress without this added feature - less labor, less material, more cost, because that is a “custom” mattress. So frustrating, back to the drawing board for a truly comfortable and green mattress.
