100% All-Natural Dunlop Latex
100% All-Natural Dunlop Latex from ARPICO
We source the latex used in our green mattresses from the ARPICO rubber tree plantation, based out of Sri Lanka. The plantation is home to over 5.5 million rubber trees, all of which are certified GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) by the Control Union of Europe. The Control Union also ensures that the raw materials are grown responsibly, free of damaging or harmful procedures or chemicals.
The latex that we acquire from ARPICO is made through the Dunlop method of vulcanization, which is free of petroleum-based ingredients, harsh chemicals or pesticides. The Dunlop method is an original direct process of converting the rubber tree sap into solid form; first the latex is whipped with air and then poured into a mold where it is heated until it vulcanizes, or hardens.
The latex that we use is not synthetic nor is it blended with any other synthetic materials such as fillers, dyes, chemicals, adhesives or pesticides. Because rubber trees grow indigenously within 200 km (or about 125 miles) of the equator, there is no natural latex made from the sap of the rubber tree able to be grown in the United States.
